Outlining Pizazz

Last night I decided to step out of my fog and really concentrate on my WIP. I truly was operating in fog mode when it came to this story. I had a feeling for it, but it wasn’t very clear or mapped out. A plotter at heart, I only titled each scene to remind me of what the gist was about, but with no details, no matter how minute, at all.

So I sat down with my writing program, WriteWay Prfo (highly recommend it for plotters or semi-plotters–anyone who enjoys organization) and made new templates. They consist of what information do I want to preplan for each scene. I decided on setting, emotion (to remind me that not everyone is happy and polite all the time), goal, motivation, conflict, clues (to the suspense angles) and event. The event is where I can list, scribble, elaborate on the actions of the scene.

I started with the scene I already wrote (have every intention of rewriting) and filled them in–not all. It was midnight. I left the events area kinda sketchy. Don’t want to write a book. ;)

Then this morning, I continued. I just finished the first Act, and I’m totally stoked. I have a much better feel for who my people are and the conflict there will be. I need to start Act 2, which I’m very unclear on. Hopefully it won’t take too long though. Mentor program begins on Monday, and I want to rewrite the first scene and start the second by then, and get as far as I can in the outline. It would be awesome if it was complete. :D
