A New Design

Like that’s new around here?

No, but this time I’m content.  It was bad enough when I tried to create a site (image) for my dark and light toned books–yeah, very confuzzling.  Now that I’m only incorporating the dark tone, it should be easier, but I don’t write one thing, like police procedurals or romantic suspense.

My sub-genres tend to be suspense with romance, psychological and supernatural thrillers, with cops, FBI, ghosts, alternate worlds, magical kingdoms, monsters and serial killers.  Do I import the handcuffs, haunted house, sppoky forest, case files, bloody phone or dug up bones?  Exactly!

So, I decided on the mask.  I think he says it all.  Creepy, unknown, villains that hide behind a mask and try to be unseen.  Kinda generic, no?  But not so much that it’s ordinary.  I love the sinister mask and what it implies to me.  And since fear is only scary when you can see it, it works perfectly for this site and my dark tone.

Fear is what my characters are up against–yes, there is something behind the fear.  They aren’t running from an emotion, but it’s that feeling that causes mistakes and heightens the intensity.  I just love being scared.  Don’t you? ;)

Once Upon A Crime

Well, the suspense group I’ve been wanting to be a part of, for a good year now, is finally created and live.

Once Upon A Crime

I am so excited.  I spent most of last evening and all of last night setting it up and making the header.  Then creating pages for everyone (and figuring how to tweak the template correctly, cause nine names on the navigational bar would NOT work, lol) and sending a very long email detailing what was done, what needs to be done and how to.

Then this morning, others had added to it (after a small snafu), and I’m so excited.  This should be very fun. Yay! :)

Brainstorming

I really, reeeeaaallllly love brainstorming.

There’s something about creating a new group of people, conflict, mystery and romance that gets me so excited.  It makes me giddy and alive.

Today, I worked on the first idea I had for a psychological thriller.  I changed some of it–made it a paranormal (at least for now although it’s not strong) and changed who my villain was.  The original way was simply NOT working.  I tried twice.  This way is better.

I went back and forth between making the heroine a 19 year old, the summer after her freshman year of college or a 17 year old, the summer before senior year.  I ended up choosing the hs student.  There’s more of a vulnerability about someone who isn’t legal yet, still considered a kid, rather than a young adult.  At least in my eyes. ;)

I finished  my character list, and tomorrow I’ll be working on character bios.  I have to say that is my most dreaded part.  I just hate it, but it’s so necessary. lol  Maybe I’ll look for pics too to keep me motivated. :)

It’s Been a Few Days

and I hate that. I had such a strong devotion to blogging every day, but adding Jadyn to the mix has definitely taken that plan off course. I want to start working on something dark, as soon as Jadyn’s WIP is finished (hopefully the end of Sept.). I would love to reexamine and get started on the first thriller I created, but the plot is so confusing. I can’t seem to make it work, so I’ve been putting it to the side. I’ve gone back to it twice now but still no luck. Maybe I can give it a whirl a third time. ;)

Of course, Jadyn has been writing like a fool–I am so into that story now, I’m amazed.

The other suspense group divas and I are currently deciding on a look for our new group/site/blog.  It may not be very easy for 9 women to decide on one design, but we’ll try, lol.

I’m actually looking forward for this part to be over with.  The site design will be one thing, but even more difficult will be creating avatars for everyone.  Not the creating part but the finding the right pictures part. LOL  This should be “fun”. Do ya hear the sarcasm? ;)

New Group

The suspense divas and I are working toward starting a suspense group where we blog, support and help one another.  It’s still in the beginning stages.  We are about to put together a site/look, but I’m seriously looking forward to it all. :)

Suspenseier

Now that I’ve split my writing, and Jadyn is now handling the lighter stuff, she is responsible for my current WIP.  Therefore, I have no writing to discuss on here.  Add that to the boringness of this blog and Whoo hoo! ;)

It does allow me to focus on the darker ideas when I’m here though.

I was on the phone the other night with my aunt, and we talked about a past life reading I received last year.  I discovered when I was born and died (years only) in my latest past life.  My aunt is very curious about who I was, since “I” died only a year after she was born.  It led to an interesting conversation, which produced a very cool idea for a book.

So, do I work on this one after they current WIP, or do I go back to the supernatural thriller about the boogeyman?  LOL, I sometimes dislike having sooo many ideas, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. :)
