Sympathy For Dr. Linus?

Published by Jenn under Drama, Tuesday

Seriously?

In the first few season Linus appeared on Lost, I loathed the character. He was a horrible, despicable man. And when he killed John Locke? Forget about it! I lived for the moment when karma would nip him in the ass. I mean, kill him, rip him apart from the inside. Feed him to the island monster.

*sigh*

I guess I’m never going to see that because Lost has a way of taking a despised character and making them likable. Remember the bitchy blonde sister, Shannon, from season 1? How about Ana Lucia? And now Benjamin Linus.

Last night’s ep actually had me choked up for his stupid self. I hoped he wouldn’t be killed. I wanted him to become principal, and when he gave it away for Alex, when he saved her and rejoined the “good” side, well… ;-(

Damn writers!

Some Women Can Be Blondes

Published by Jenn under Drama, Thursday

Chyler Leigh (Lexie Grey on Grey’s Anatomy) should not, never ever dye her hair blonde again!!!

That is all.

Criminal Minds Made Me Cry

Published by Jenn under Drama, Suspense, Wednesday

I don’t believe they ever did that before, but last night’s episode had me in tears.

It was great seeing Dr. Hahn (Brooke Smith) again. ;) She played the mother of a missing girl, Aimee, who was snatched right next to her, and I do mean right.

The BAU’s investigation turned up that these were serial kidnappings, and all due to JJ’s (still can’t warm up to this woman) belief in another mother who lost her son, Charlie, ten years ago. No one in the preceding years believed this mother. She was considered a drunk and crazy, but she never gave up looking for her son.

The more I think about the episode, the more I realize I paid very little attention to the investigation, lol. Usually Garcia’s one-liners make me laugh. I don’t recall one of them. Were there any? I am digging her red hair though. Like always, I was on the computer while watching, so I tend to listen more than observe, but what kept me turning back to the television were the victims.

The “mother” villain was nice and creepy (where do I know her from?) and the “father” was weirdly creepy, but the kids made the show. And at the end, when the parents were reunited with the kids and when the other couple were not only told that their son Steven was dead but that he was alive as of yesterday, I cried and cried.

BTW, I HATE crying. :P

It was a really good episode though. I’m glad I didn’t miss it in order to watch the first hour of Ghost Hunters’ 100th episode. The second hour was boring.

Sins of the Mother

Published by Jenn under Drama, Sunday

Last night’s movie on Lifetime Movie Network was interesting. First, I thoroughly enjoyed the performances by Jill Scott and Nicole Beharie. They both gave strong, honest, sometimes raw portrayals of a broken mother-daughter relationship.

Sometimes Shay (Nicole’s character) grated on my nerves, but I also can’t imagine growing up with an alcoholic mother who left me all alone for a week to hold up with some guy. The fear she felt as a child had to be unreal, so I can sympathize, but we didn’t learn this until mid-way or later, so listening to her bitchiness in the very beginning was difficult. I pretty much had to grit my teeth and bear it because I knew there had to be a reason or else this awesome-appearing story wouldn’t have been told.

I’m assuming the book got this point across better. They always do. ;)

The only other “problem” was the ending. It was too quick. Another movie issue, I’m sure.

All-in-all though, it was good and definitely worth watching. :D

Quick Peek Week

It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve posted. Luckily it was only a week. A week of tooth pain. Ugh! I’m all fixed and feeling fine (but God, do I hate dentists) and figured I’d just give a quick run-down of what I remember and loved. I’ll get back to my regularly scheduled programs next week.

Lost:

Normally I wouldn’t comment about this rather confusing show. Even when I pay attention I seem to miss stuff, but I am a little sad to know this is its last season. Yes, I didn’t watch last season AT ALL, but it just feels like a good friend is leaving. Aww!

Criminal Minds:

Why is JJ so standoffish? It’s in almost every episode and I don’t get it. If anything, because she’s not a profiler, I’d think she’d be warmer than the rest. But I have a very hard time liking her.

Private Practice:

I hate teen pregnancy stories. They make me want to scream–which I do, at my television, if I happen to catch a glimpse of one. The one thing I find interesting about it in this show is that it’s not focused on the teen and her cutesy ideas of being a 15 year old mom. This show the agony Naomi is going through. I do appreciate that, because if, God forbid, my daughter said she was pregnant, I know at the very beginning, I’d be screaming, crying and acting a fool too.

One Life To Live:

First, ewwwwww to Mitch Lawrence and his way of wanting to have an heir and Yay to this being the end of Stacy’s reign of skankdom. Yes, I’ve read the spoilers, and I’m very much looking forward to this week–minus the nauseating Adriana and Natalie-my-husband-died-a-few-months-ago-and-I’m-still-in-love-with-my-ex. Couldn’t Natalie be with Stacy when she goes under?

Bailey’s Getting A Love Interest

Published by Jenn under Drama, Thursday

Come on, that has to be where Grey’s Anatomy writers are headed. Tonight she yelled at, semi-apologized and side-stepped with the new, cute anesthesiologist from the Mercy West merger. Now that she’s divorced (is it final yet?), they can finally give her a little sumin sumin in the four walls of the hospital. Not that the Nazi would get it on IN the hospital, no on-call rooms or elevators for this little diva, but a romance for Bailey is very exciting.

She’s the only one who hasn’t had one, right? Yeah, Chief Webber too, but we still saw his marriage to Adelle, and according to spoilers, we’ll be seeing some of his past romance with Meredith’s mom in the episode next week. Can’t wait for that.
