I received comments from my first beta reader. She had a couple of “issues” and a couple of wishes. lol I agree about most of them, and honestly didn’t even think about one of them…which is pretty stupid of me. So, I have some changes to make. Nothing major, more like things I need to add. I need to clear up the hero’s motivation and why the heroine’s fallen in love with him. I need this one to sit and stew in my brain for a bit, trying to figure out how to make it work. I’m also wondering if she should BE in love with him or simply open to everything she feared before–marriage, kids, etc. I figure I have until the second beta returns her comments to figure it out. ![]()
Catch up:
Yesterday I spent the day tearing my house apart. I got much acvtivity scouring, sweeping, vaccumming and making my house sparkle. My kitchen floor is soooo old that it usually needs to be swept then scrubbed on hands and knees and then washed with a mop (that is when I haven’t done it in a while :P). So, I definitely got a great workout. This morning I walked a mile, so that has my heart pumping nicely, but it’s not the reason I feel happy and proud.
I missed the actual calling on our president elect (I was so bummed, I switched for just an hour, ugh), but when I saw the electorial votes as 338 to 156. Woo hoo! I am so proud to a part of this historical event, and I’m glad my kids are old enough to remember this. I can’t explain my sheer excitement and the change our country will finally go through–even if it takes time for it to come. Yay!!!!!
Barack Obama Wins!
The End
That is what I typed (figuratively) this afternoon. It felt so great!
Yay, it’s done. Completed. Finished.
Today is also the last day of Fast Draft. It’s going to be strange tomorrow morning when I don’t have to open the book and shush my kids. I’ll manage though. ![]()
Another successful day of Fast Draft, over at Romance Divas. I wrote 11 pages this morning. I also managed to fold three loads of laundry, put them all away, vaccum and help my son clean his room. Pretty good day, if I say so. Now, I’m brainstorming more of the next book, Undead Like Me. That’s the tenative title right now, anyway. I’m still working on who my heroine is, what her abilities are and those characteristics. But surprisingly, I know a lot of who she was as just a human. Now, it’s about discovering who she’ll become. ![]()
Ah, if only what I wrote about the new-to-be book was true. lol The new book, which is probably what I’ll be working on for Nano, will not be about a zombie. Right now, I’m not sure what she is. I wanted her to be evil, well not her exactly, but her species. Part of the problem is there are too many options, and my ‘expertise’ is not in the paranormal/science-fiction arenas. So it’s slow moving, but I’ll eventually get it.
Meanwhile, I only wrote 2 pages for yesterday’s Fast Draft. I couldn’t get my head in my story. So far today I’m on page 7. I will make goal today. Heading back there now. ![]()
That’s the number of pages in my current WIP, so far. 11 is the number of pages I wrote today. 360 is what I need for it to fall under the format I want. 20/200 is what my uncorrected eyesight is.
Yeah, we went to the ophthalmologist today and I should have my new glass in 2-3 weeks. I’ve going without for well over a year now. The frames broke, so I’ve been walking around squinting. I can’t wait to get them. My daughter and I picked the same glasses (our visions is close but not exactly the same), but she refused to allow me to get the same color as her. *sigh* So while she was able to get mauve, I had to get black. They’d look better if my hair was it’s natural color and not with these red highlights. I will definitely look better in black then she will though, so I gave it for my baby, but mauve would’ve been sweet.
I thought of ANOTHER idea yesterday. Well, it’s not entirely new. Months ago Samhain held a contest for a paranormal romantic comedy (my label, don’t recall their exact words), and I came up with a chick lit zombie bent on getting married. Well, thinking about it yesterday, it’s now a YA about a chick lit zombie bent on going to the senior prom. Once a short story, it’s now turning into a novel, and now I have one more damn book idea. So one has to be put aside for NaNo. Time to decide.
Another day of writing FD under my belt and with a total of 18 pages. Oh yeah, baby! And more importantly, it was completed before 11 AM and I won’t be sitting in front of this monitor all day long.
I’m seeing the holes in my book. Nothing too big, but details that need to be added, and I need more interaction early on between my heroine and the other women in the house. That will have to be added during revisions. I’m on page 260, want to get to 360 and only have four chapters to go, which means I may be about 50 pages shy come Thursday or Friday when I finish. That will also have to be added during revisions. lol
Next on my agenda today, other than brunch, is outlining some of Raven’s Mind, my NaNoWirMo project. I had some thoughts last night but was too tired to begin anything, so hopefully I’ll remember it today. :P I’m off to do that now. I’m realizing I need to add A LOT more external conflict to my stories. Gonna work on that today.
